i have read comments on several threads about the wts policy on asking folks whose homes have been repaired/rebuilt by jw volunteers to sign over their insurance checks to the wts?.
is there any kind of paper proof of this policy anywhere?
any further details would be kindly appreciated!!.
Cruzanheart,
Considering the fact that they did such great work, fast, with good quality materials, and we were asked to donate way less than it would've costed if we were to hire a contractor, we didn't mind one bit making our donations.
Like I mentioned before, there were many without insurance that got the same work for nothing.
As I've always said, it's a business... a religious business.

the disaster relief committee at patterson organized 3 meetings this past memorial day, monday september 5, 2005. the meetings were held in lake charles, louisiana; bossier city, louisiana; and ball, louisiana.
over 1,200 elders were in attendance from louisiana, missouri, arkansas, and texas.
i took horrible notes, but want to share a few things.. the elder opening the meeting emphasized the importance of confidentiality.
I tell you all, no boubt, the WBTS has one heck of a plan when it comes to assisting their own. It's just outstanding!
If they get their way, without fighting all the red tape, JWs will probably be the first ones to be rebuilt and carrying on with life as usual.
My hats off to the WBTS in this regard.
Did you all know now there's a new arrangement in which there will be a superintendent to oversee the needs of the elderly in each individual congregation? I mean, that's awesome!
It's all wonderful. Just wonderful what they're doing for their people.

This information is false.
When they did repairs in my home, they asked for a donation equal to the cost of materials. Of course, since we received a pretty good sum from our insurance plus local anb Federal aid, we donated a little more.
I knew of quite a few JWs in the congregation where I attend that don't have a pot to piss on and got all the work done for free.
They did excellent repair/rebuild work!!! If we were to pay contractors to do all the work they did for us, we would've spent the last penny given to us!
Once again, the information about the WBTS asking people to sign over their insurance checks is totally false. Of course, due to some people's generosity and thankfulness perhaps there were some that did do just that. However, it wasn't asked of anyone.

Personal responsibility my friends. Personal responsibility.
Let us all learned to have a plan for when the time comes for each one of us. We need to rely on ourselves and stop thinking that somebody else will save us.
Here in the great USA, yes, somebody will in time come to anyone's aid, but the people without a plan and that don't take personal responsibility for their destiny shall suffer while that much needed aid arrives.

according to the son of my newly baptised jw friends, they re-decorating their house for a visit and 'inspection' by the circuit overseer.
can anyone explain what the circuit overseer's visit is all about?
does he or she normally visit the homes of people in the congregation?
If can help it, I'll never invite those glorified freeloaders to my home!

NEW YORK (CNN) - In one of the largest recalls in automaker history, Ford Motor Co. said Wednesday it is recalling 3.8 million pickup trucks and SUVs for a cruise control switch that has caused engine fires, even with the vehicle parked and the engine off.The recall includes 1994-2002 model-years of F-150 pickup truck, Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator and Ford Broncos.
Ford had already recalled more than 1 million year 2000 vehicles in two separate recalls to replace the cruise control switch.
Need I say more.

I stand firmly by my previously made post in this thread because it's nothing but the pure truth.
There were lots of people that were affected by the hurricane Charlie in my area, my family and I being some of them.
When it was all said and done and my family and I received all the insurance, local, and federal help available, we were lleft able to remodel our homes much better than if the disaster hadn't happened to us at all. I know plenty of people that ended up with much better homes and in better economical standing than prior to Charlie. So there!

My relatives are forever faithful to American made cars/van/trucks. They've all been horrible!
Stay away, if possible, from American brands.
